Huntington's disease is a genetic disorder that affects the brain, leading to problems with movement, thinking, and emotions. This study is focused on evaluating a treatment that combines two vitamins: Thiamine (also known as Vitamin B1) and biotin (also known as Vitamin H). These vitamins are being tested to see if they are safe and can be tolerated by people with Huntington's disease when taken together in pill form.
The purpose of the study is to assess the safety and tolerability of this combined vitamin therapy in patients with Huntington's disease. Participants will take the vitamins orally, and their health will be monitored through regular check-ups with a neurologist. These check-ups will include both in-person and remote visits. During the study, doctors will collect information about any side effects and perform blood tests to monitor liver and kidney function. The study will also measure levels of thiamine in the blood and cerebrospinal fluid, which is the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
Throughout the study, participants will undergo various assessments to track changes in their condition. These assessments will include tests of motor skills, quality of life, and overall health. The study aims to provide valuable information on whether this vitamin combination can be a safe treatment option for people with Huntington's disease.
