Buerger's disease is a condition that affects blood vessels, leading to reduced blood flow, especially in the arms and legs. This study is focused on evaluating the use of Botulinum Toxin Type A, a substance commonly known for its muscle-relaxing properties, in treating Buerger's disease. The treatment involves injecting a solution containing Botulinum Toxin Type A into the affected areas to see if it can help improve blood flow and reduce symptoms.
The main goal of the study is to determine if the treatment is feasible, meaning it can be successfully given to patients within a set timeframe. Participants will receive planned injections and will be monitored to see how well they tolerate the treatment. The study will also assess changes in blood flow, pain levels, and the healing of any ulcers on the skin. These assessments will be done using various methods, such as measuring blood pressure in the fingers or toes and using imaging techniques to evaluate tissue health.
Throughout the study, the frequency and severity of symptoms related to Buerger's disease, such as Raynaud's syndrome, will be recorded. This syndrome involves episodes of reduced blood flow to the fingers or toes, often triggered by cold temperatures. Participants will also complete questionnaires to evaluate their quality of life before and after the treatment. The study is expected to continue until the end of 2026, with recruitment starting in late 2024.
