Polycystic liver disease is a condition where multiple cysts form in the liver, leading to an increase in liver size. This study is focused on understanding if a medication called leuprorelin acetate can help slow down the growth of the liver in women with this condition. Leuprorelin acetate is a type of medication known as a GnRH agonist, which works by lowering the levels of certain hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, in the body.
The purpose of the study is to see if reducing these hormone levels can decrease the rate at which the liver grows in women who have not yet gone through menopause and have severe polycystic liver disease. The study will compare two groups of participants: one group will start treatment with leuprorelin acetate immediately, while the other group will have a delayed start. The treatment will last for 18 months, and the growth of the liver will be monitored using MRI scans.
Participants will be observed for any changes in liver size and any symptoms related to polycystic liver disease. The study will also track any side effects that may occur during the treatment period. This research aims to provide more information on whether leuprorelin acetate can be an effective treatment option for managing polycystic liver disease.
